iPhoneがフリーズする、というのとまたちょっと違う症状の話。

iPhoneのiOSアプリが少し止まる、固まる時にIMを入れ替えて解決した話。
今iPhone13 miniを使っているのですが、その前のiPhone 12 miniの時から変な症状に悩まされてました。iOSアプリを使っている時に、急にアプリが止まって数秒から十数秒で動き出す、という挙動です。
iPhone 12から13への乗り換えの時に最初はしばらく鳴りをひそめていたのですが、やはり同じ症状が出てきました。なのでOS再インストールでは解決しない、という点がクリアになりました。
ところが同様の症状の解決法は検索しても出てこない、というか、圧倒的に「iPhoneがフリーズしたら？」のいかがですかブログばかりでした。
フリーズとは違う・・・スタック？
フリーズ、というとiOSそのものが固まって入力を受け付けなくなり、最悪強制再起動をするしかなくなる感じですが、僕の場合は、アプリは止まってもタスクに切り替えなどは可能で、このことからiOS自体は動いていて、アプリだけが止まっている、という事もわかっていました。
アプリが止まる、というのを繰り返すのも面倒なので、これをフリーズではなくスタック、と呼ぶことにします。
このスタックの時間は大体数秒から十数秒で、待っていると動き出す、けど毎回これが出ると辛い、という感じです。一番スタックされて厳しいのがお店でPayPayなどで支払う時。QRコードのスキャンで止まったり、金額入力している間に止まったり・・・。金額入力で止まると、760円のつもりが7600円になってたりで危ないったらありゃしない。
このことからスタック中もタッチパネルの入力は受け付けている、いわゆるキーバッファ的なものは有効なのもわかりました。つまりiOSは問題なくアプリの挙動に関するもの、またはアプリを動かす環境の問題だろう、と推測していました。
またスタックするアプリは特定のものはなく、Googleアプリ、PayPay、ピクミンブルーム、Yahoo!天気、なんでも出てきます。頻出する度合いが高い、いわゆる手こずらされたのはこの辺でしょうか。しかし特定アプリのバグではありません。もうかれこれ1年以上なのでそれぞれアプデもされています。
そうすると考えられる要因としては・・・
- 通信に関する問題。データ通信が必要な時に変なボトルネックが発生していて結果スタックする？
- 別の割り込み処理の問題。スタックしやすいアプリは割り込み処理で止まっている？
- ストレージの残量の問題。ストレージアクセス時に問題が発生してスタックする？
のあたりを考えました。通信については・・・ありそうかな、とは思っていたのですが、Wifiでも5G通信でも起こるのでこれもナシ。
割り込み処理は・・・1つだけ思いつくのはIM、いわゆるキーボード。こいつが引っかかるような感じで出てくることがあってもしかすると・・・？と思ってました。
ストレージ残量は平均して半分以上空いているのでこれもナシ。
IMを変えてみる
実はiPhone12 miniの時にIMをGboardに変えたことがあります。その時は結果が良かったような記憶はあるのですが、その前にGboardが既存の辞書アクセスができず、かといって辞書登録もできない、というIMとしての根本的な問題があって、結局外してしまいました。
久しぶりにGboardを恐る恐るインストールしてみると・・・なんと！iOSの辞書を取り込んで変換できるようになってる！ということで入れました。
もともとiOSの日本語（フリックのみ）＋英語（QWERTY）で使っていたのですが、Gboardを入れてGboard（フリック）＋英語（QWERTY）で使ってみましたが改善せず。
仕方がないのでGboard側で日英をまかない、iOSの英語も外したら・・・とたんに全体の入力感が軽い！これか・・・！
ということでおそらくですがスタックの対応策はIM入れ替えのようです。IM入れ替えて症状改善しているので、本来はiOS付属のキーボードの問題を解決できればGboardナシでも修正できる気はしますが・・・辞書まわりなんだろうなぁ・・・とは思います。
