無料SSL Let’sEncrypt導入。メリット・デメリットは？
GoogleもSSL導入を推奨しているなか、試しにこのサイト、Freesim.Tokyoに無料SSLのLet’s Encrypｔを導入してみました。
そりゃまぁSSLを入れられればそれに越したことは無いんですが、やっぱりコストも手間もかかるしねぇ・・・ということで、今までは躊躇していました。また無料のSSLのLet’sEncryptも知ってはいたのですが、無料は無料なりの・・・と勝手に思っていたので今ひとつ手が伸びなかったのですが、なんとなーくノリでインストール。
参考にしたのはこの記事。

他の運用サイトでは有償のSSLを導入していますが、Let’sEncryptはコマンドラインさえ扱えれば導入は超ラク。
ここに記載があるとおり、コマンドラインで一発で入って、あとはNginxのconfigをちょちょっと書き換えるだけ。これは簡単です。
SSL導入のメリット・デメリット
さて、SSL導入については世間ではやれGoogle推奨だの、SEOで有利かも、サイトの信頼性がどうこう、みたいなので色々とメリットの解説はされていますが、デメリットもあります。幾つかのサイトをSSL導入してみた経験からメリデメを記載してみますね。
SSL導入メリット
これは言わずもがなですね。
実際SSL導入でSEO的に有利？と言われると、Googleも確か公式には回答していないものの、今後SSL導入していないサイトには色々とChromeでアラートが出たりするので、やっぱり入れておいた方がいいようです。これはメリットというより、導入しないとデメリットになる、というところでしょうか。

また、検索順位には影響がない、とされているものの、いずれはSSL対応サイトが優遇されることはあっても、冷遇されることは無いことから、保険としてのメリットもあります。
個人情報を取るようなサイトであればそもそもが必須。これも微妙ですがメリットかなぁ。
SSL導入デメリット
デメリットはなさそうなSSL導入。ですが歴然と、コストor手間、というデメリットが存在します。
有償SSLの場合は数千円から数万円。Let’sEncryptの場合は無償ですが有効期間が90日、と四半期しか持たないので年4回更新する手間が。
また意外に知られていないですが、SSLを導入することでURLの最初のhttp://のところがhttps://に変わるため、ソーシャルのカウントが全てリセットされる、というデメリットもあります。

これ、はてなブックマークで19ブクマ貰っているのですが、そのURLはhttp://です。
SSL導入することで、それまでのほぼ全てのソーシャルカウントがゼロになります。
Googleはnon-sslからsslにリダイレクトしていくといずれインデックスを更新してくれますが、ソーシャルはこの辺がみんなアホなので、httpのカウントをhttpsに引き継ぐ、ということはしません。
ということで、過去にバズった記事は一回裸になります。
また、Googleもリダイレクトを検知してからインデックス反映をするまでの間、しばらくURLがインデックスから消えたりする事もあるようです。これは今後出てきたら記事にしようかと思います。
まぁ長いサイト運営で考えるといっときのことではあるので、早いうちに無料でもなんでもSSL導入しておくと、あとは楽ですよねー、という考え方もできるのかなぁ。
SSL導入後の後片付け
さて、SSL導入した後には後片付けというか、Wordpressの場合必要な設定があります。
取りも直さずhttps://で接続が出来ることを確認した上で（これ重要）
1つはWordpress側の設定＞一般設定にある「WordPress アドレス (URL)」「サイトアドレス (URL)」のURLをhttpsに変えること。
その後にChromeなどのデベロッパーツールで各ページがMixed Contents、つまりnon-sslとsslの混在した状態になっていないかを確認する必要があります。
