米国では何気にポッドキャストが人気だそうです。
ブランド認知の新たな手段「ポッドキャスト」 米国で広告収入＆人気が急上昇する理由
米国の月間ポッドキャスト・リスナー数は推計7,300万人。人気コンテンツは100万人以上のリスナーを獲得しており、新たな広告媒体として注目を集めている。英語圏でポッドキャスト人気が高まっている理由とは。
米国では44％（12歳以上）がこれまでポッドキャストを聞いたことがあると回答。これは1億2,400万人に相当する人数で、前年比では1,200万人の増加となる。また26％（7,300万人に相当）が月間でポッドキャストを聞いていると回答、2013年の13％から大幅に伸びている。
米国の12歳以上で2人に１人がポッドキャストを聞いたことがある、というのも驚きですが、現在も利用している人が7,300万人もいる、というのはスゴイですね。
それも大体において年齢層でまんべんなく聞かれている、というデータが出ているとのこと。
一番驚いたのが「ポッドキャストを聞く場所」。
聞く場所に関しては、家が82％、車／トラックが58％、歩きでの移動中が41％、職場が34％、ジム／エクササイズ中が29％、公共交通機関が28％となっている。家では、子育てや料理、掃除の最中に聞いている人が多いことが示唆されている。またアマゾンエコーなどのスマートスピーカーで聞く人が増えている可能性も指摘されている。
家なんですね・・・。6,000万人近い人が家でポッドキャストを聞いている、と。ラジオ的な使われ方をしてるということでしょうか。
翻って日本の場合は・・・なかなかそうは行かないと思いますが、実はポッドキャストは通勤・通学などの移動中にちょっと聞けるくらいのいいコンテンツがたくさんあります。
僕はもっぱら英語のヒアリング教材として使っています。iPhoneとBluetoothイヤホンで聞いているのですが、そこで活躍するのがこのBluetoothイヤホン。
片耳用のBluetooth完全ワイヤレスイヤホンを買いました。
世間ではBluetoothの完全ワイヤレスイヤホンがかなり普及してきているみたいですが、そんな中で片耳用のを買いました。
これだとホントにポケットに入れておけるので、ちょっと遠くまで歩く、というスキマ時間でも十分ポッドキャストを聞けるんですね。歩きスマホは危険ですが、片耳イヤホンだけの歩きポッドキャストなら全然大丈夫です。もちろん電車移動の時なども手放せません。

NHK WORLD RADIO JAPAN News
NHKが提供しているラジオニュースのポッドキャスト。英語だけでなく中国語やアラビア語など、ものすごい数の多国語展開でポッドキャストを提供しています。
このニュースは基本日本のトピックを各国語で放送しているので、例えば日経新聞を先に目を通していれば大体内容はわかります。
海外ニュースだとローカルニュースなのでトピック自体がなんのこっちゃ？と言うこともしばしばなので・・・これはオススメです。

バイリンガルニュース
iOSのPodcastでは一番人気のバイリンガルニュース。男女２人が日本語と英語を取り混ぜながら会話したり、ニュースを日英で読み上げたりと非常にいい英語コンテンツです。が、最近あまり聞かなくなってきました。というのも１つのコンテンツが１．５〜２時間と結構長いため。とはいえ、日英取り混ぜながら話す「バイリンガル形式」スタイルは、トピックに置いていかれても日本語ですぐキャッチアップ出来るのでヒアリング教材としてはすごく良いです。

最近気に入っているのがこちら。日本在住のTim Romeroさんが日本のスタートアップベンチャーの代表者と英語で話す、という内容です。こちらは英語のみですが、日本のベンチャー代表者の会話レベルがバラバラなのでいろんな英語を聞ける、というのがいいところです。話の内容も別の意味でいろんな事が知れるので楽しいです。
