Googleマップは海外でも超便利、という話。
海外旅行の際にもGoogleマップは当然使うと思いますが、今回すごい便利だな、と思った機能を紹介しておきます。
海外ではちゃんとホテルと空港が認識される
どういう仕組みなんだろうなぁ・・・。ふと気づくとGoogleマップの検索のときの候補がこうなってました。すごい。
通常「自宅」と「職場」になる部分がシンガポールだとちゃんと「ホテル」と「空港」に。だからホテルに戻るときも空港に行くときもすぐに一発選択です。
Googleマップは自宅と職場を登録しておけますが、このホテルと空港はおそらくGoogle Trips（アプリはなくなりました。残念。なのでGoogleトラベル？Google旅行？）に取り込まれたフライト予約とホテル予約から導き出してるんだと思います。
Googleマップはこれに関わらず細かいところをチョイチョイ修正していってますねー。
マップレイヤーの路線が便利
シンガポールにいる間は実はGrabばかりで電車には乗らなかったんですが、事前に調べたときにやっぱりよその場所の路線って分かりづらいなぁ・・・と思ってました。
それが今更ですが、レイヤーを「路線図」にすると・・・一気に見やすく。
通常はこんな感じですが・・・。

これはわかりやすいですね。
タイムラインをこまめに付けておく
別途国際タクシーの話でも使いましたが、Googleマップのタイムラインを確実に記録しておくのも1つポイントです。自分がいる所をタップすると「現在地はこちらですか？」と確認されるので、そこでOKすると下のようにチェックマークが付きます。
大体正確なのですが、滞在時間やGPSからの位置情報、最寄りの場所によってロケーションが違う所になったりするので、ポイントポイントでチェックしていくときれいな履歴が残ります。
このキャプチャだとそこそこ停車していたはずのシンガポール側のウッドランド・チェックポイントが記録されていないですね。この移動についての詳しい記事はこちらです。
