ブックマークの肥やしになっていた中から見つけましたが、Googleが公開されているデータを加工してグラフ出力もサポートした「Google Public Data」、Google統計が便利です。
もうちょっとデータを網羅してくれるとさらに便利になりそう。

Google Graphで簡単出力のGoogle Public Data
統計データって結構探すの大変です。日本の公的な統計の場合は、一応総務省統計局のサイトで見たりダウンロードしたりできます。
が、日本の人口1つにしても、フォーマットがPDFだったりExcelだったりと統一性がなかったりとか・・・。
すごく昔に何かで取り上げられていたんだと思いますが、ずっとブックマークの肥やしになっていた、Google Public Dataはこちら。
ぽつねん、とデータのラベルがあるだけですが、それぞれのデータはちゃんとGoogle Graphで出力・貼り付け出来るなかなかのスグレモノ。
見ることが出来るデータは以下の通り。カッコはデータの提供元です。
世界開発指標（世界銀行）
ヨーロッパの失業データ（ユーロスタット）
ヨーロッパの最低賃金（ユーロスタット）
ヨーロッパのブロードバンド普及データ（ユーロスタット）
ヨーロッパの政府負債（ユーロスタット）
日本、人口（日本の公式統計）
日本、失業（日本の公式統計）
ヨーロッパと日本しかないのが残念ですが、これらの個々の項目で出力させてみるとかなり面白いデータが出せます。
日本の人口を出してみる
日本の人口を出して貼り付けてみます。普通に日本の人口合計だとこんなグラフ。
今度は大都市を含む都道府県として、東京・神奈川・愛知・大阪・福岡を個別に選択して出力。
都道府県別で見ると、1945年の第二次世界大戦での人口減や、最近の神奈川件と大阪府の人口逆転がよくわかりますね。表示を切り替えるだけですぐにこういうグラフにも。
ね。なかなか楽しいでしょ？
ヨーロッパの失業率でやってみる
ブリグジットやギリシアの債務問題などで何かとお騒がせなヨーロッパ・EU周辺ですが、こちらもこんなグラフのデータを出せたりします。
EU平均（欧州連合）とブリグジットのイギリス、債務問題ギリシア、1人あたりGDPが激高いルクセンブルグを重ねたグラフ。
ギリシアの失業率の深刻度が一発で分かるグラフになりました。
この機能をちゃんと使うと「ヨーロッパ各国のブロードバンド普及率」みたいな、いかにも使いそうなグラフも簡単です。
こうやってみるとデンマークとオランダが高いんですねー。逆にスロバキア・ポーランド・ブルガリア・ルーマニア、いわゆる旧東欧諸国は普及率が低いですね。
もうちょっとデータを充実してくれるとほんと使いやすいと思うのですが、何年もこのままなのでGoogleの中でも打ち捨てられたプロジェクトなのかなぁ・・・？
