Where the Hell is Matt?
もう10年以上前になってしまうんですが、「世界中で踊る男」というキャッチで超流行った動画があります。Matt Hardingというお兄ちゃんが世界各地に旅行して現地でヘタウマダンスを踊ったのを編集してつなげた動画です。
彼を一番有名にしたのはこの動画かなぁ。
Where the Hell is Matt? 2006
ほぼ2,000万回再生されています。2005年に最初の動画をアップしたあとネットで話題になり、その後スポンサードなどもつけながら都度動画をリリースしていきます。
そしてWhat The Hell is Matt?というサイトにまとめていました。
YouTuberの走り中の走りですね。
その後も最初は一人で踊るだけだったのが、現地の人たちと一緒に踊る、などスタイルを変えて新編を取り続けます。日本でもVISAカードのCMに出演したりと売れっ子状態でした。
ふとマットの話を思い出すことがあって久々に見てみたら・・・ドメインが変わってました。
Where the Hell、てのがちょっといい言葉ではないのでHeckに変えたんですかね・・・？
もともと「what the hell」は「なんてこったい、なんだって！？」的で、それを「いったいマットはどこにいるんだ？」というのとかけて「Where the hell」としていたんだと思います。
それがhellが4 letter wordだから・・・というのでheckに変わったんでしょうが・・・こういうのもお下品だから、とか言われちゃうんですかね・・・？
