Googleフライト(グーグルフライト)をダウンロードアプリのように使う方法
Googleフライト(グーグルフライト)はめちゃくちゃ便利なのでぜひアプリ提供もしてほしい所なんですが、残念ながら今の所Googleからダウンロードアプリとしての提供はないようです。
旅程管理アプリのGoogle Trips(Googleトリップ)がGoogleフライト(グーグルフライト)と用途としては近いのですが、Google Trips(Googleトリップ)がダウンロードできるアプリなのに対して、Googleフライト(グーグルフライト)はダウンロードアプリは無く、Webのみの提供になっています。
いつでも使えるようにアイコンをホーム画面に追加
とはいえ、ちょっとフライトを調べよう、と思ったときには不便なので、iPhoneのホーム画面にGoogleフライト(グーグルフライト)のアイコンを追加してしまいましょう。とりあえずSafariでGoogleフライト(グーグルフライト)を開きます。
Safariを開いたら下の共有ボタンをタップします。
下段の「コピー」「プリント」などのアイコンの中から「ホーム画面に追加」をタップ・・・なんですが、結構右の方にありますね。
たぐっていくと・・・ありました。「ホーム画面に追加」を選択するとデスクトップにGoogleフライト(グーグルフライト)のアイコンが追加されます。
一応これですぐにGoogleフライトが開くようになりました。
Googleフライト(グーグルフライト)のダウンロードアプリがない理由は・・・？
好評な割にダウンロードアプリを出さない本当の理由はGoogleのみぞ知る、というところですが、Googleフライトの機能や同じところにあるホテル予約の機能（Googleホテル？）はGoogleマップなどと綿密に連携しているので、変にアプリにしたくない、またはすると仕様が限定される、という話かな、と想像しています。
ホントにアプリとしてリリースされると、ExpediaやSkyscannerから見るとすごい脅威だとは思うんですが・・・。
こちらの記事ですでに紹介したように、米国ではフライト検索サイトから航空会社へのトラフィック流入は、専門サイトのKayak(カヤック)よりもグーグルフライトの方が上だったりするようです。つまり航空会社から見てもGoogleフライトは無視できない存在。フライト予約の頻度は人によってまちまちですが、よほど航空会社を決めて登場しているマイル修行者のような人たち以外は、目的地に早く、安くつくフライトを航空会社横断で探すはず。
つまり航空会社からするとフライト検索サイトは無視できない存在な訳です。
Google的にもそこは押さえたい所のはずですが、アプリにしない理由はなんなんでしょうね・・？
