ダイエットでロードバイク始める人はサイコンを買うべきか？
周りでも自転車、特にロードバイクを始める人がちょこちょこ増えてきました。自転車自体もコロナ前より売れ行きは上がっているそうですね。さて、そんな中、ダイエット目的でロードバイクを始める人はサイコンって必要・・・？と思ったので書いてみます。
ダイエットもいろんな方法がありますが、その中で自転車で痩せよう、という人も結構います。走るのはキツイけど自転車なら・・・という感じでしょうか。僕も2年前にそんな感じでクロスバイクから始めました。
事実、いきなりランニングをするよりは自転車のほうが体への負担は少ないです。周りでランニング始めた人は結構な確率で足を痛める経験をしています。それに比べると自転車は購入のハードルが高いものの、体を痛めるリスクは低い気がします。
走るより自転車、の人は結局走る
自分もそうなんですが、ランニングがきつそうだから自転車、という選択をした人は、自転車で心肺機能や体力が向上すると結局走ります。多分。僕はそうです。
ロングライドなどで有酸素運動を結構みっちりやることで心肺機能が上がって、それまで走るとすぐ息も絶え絶えだったのがそれなりに走れるようになります。また自転車は雨だと乗れないのですが、ランニング界隈だとシャワーラン、とか言って走ってたりします。
僕も普段は毎朝ロードバイクですが、時間がない時や雨の時はランニングにしています。大体ロードバイクの1/2の時間でランニングはカロリー消費します。なので走れてしまえば効率はランニングの方が上なのですが、遠くに行ったり時間ごとに景色が変わったり、という点はロードバイクに軍配があがるので基本ロードなわけです。
Garmin Forerunnerもセンサー計測できる
さて、そういう自転車＋ランニングの人の場合、果たして自転車にサイコンを買うのってどうなんだろう？と思ったのがこのエントリです。僕も使っているGarmin Forerunner255sは、自転車のスピードセンサー・ケイデンスセンサー、パワーメーターも接続できます。そして255からは計測時に心拍転送モードをオンオフできるようになっています。つまりウォッチで計測しながらもサイコンに心拍転送可能です。
とすると、わざわざGarmin Edge 530などを買うよりも、Forerunner255などにして、自転車にはスピードセンサーとケイデンスセンサー、XOSSなどの中華サイコンで心拍転送モードで心拍も送る、という形でもいいんじゃない？と思えてきました。
実際、Canyonの前のメインだったCaad13は今は通勤用、カジュアル乗り用になっているのですが、その構成で使っています。Canyonの方は色々あってGarmin Edge 1040 Solarとかですが・・・。
トライアスロンの人とかどうしてるんでしょうね・・・？
