ロードバイクに乗っていると可能な限り速く走れた方がいいですが、実際に何をやると速くなるんでしょうか？やってみて速度アップにつながった事をまとめてみました。

自転車で速く走る―速度アップを体感したものまとめ
全然乗っていないクロスバイクを引っ張り出してダイエット目的で走り出してから、ロードバイクで100キロ以上走れるようになった最近までに巡航速度や最高速度はかなり変わりました。とはいえこれをやれば5キロアップ！というのはなくて、それぞれの足し算と日々のトレーニングで速度は変わります。
これをやると速度アップした！と思ったものを列挙してみますね。
パンツをタイツに変えてみた：+1.5km/h
パンツ・・・というのも変ですが、最初の頃はワークマンのこういうジャージの下みたいなのを履いてました。

楽チンで良かったのですが、やはりバタバタしてしまったりするので、試しにレーパン的なタイツに変えて見たところ・・・
あっさり巡航速度が上がりました。大体1.5km/h平均くらいでしょうか。1キロではないけど2キロほど上がらない、という感じです。空気抵抗って思った以上に影響があるんだな、と実感しました。
ステムを伸ばす：+1km/h
Tern Surgeのときにデフォルトでついていた90mmのものから120mmのステムに変更しました。手元が詰まっている感じがあったので余裕を持たせるために交換したのですが、結果的に腕が前に行くので前傾姿勢が強くなりました。
こちらでも紹介していますが、やはり空気抵抗を減らすのは車体重量を減らすのと同様、速度アップに効果ありなんですね。こちらは記事でも触れているように、最高速というより速度を上げていくところが楽になった、というところが強いようです。
Zonda C17へのホイール交換：+2.5km/h
これはCannondale CAAD 13の話なので最近なのですが、元のフルクラム レーシング900からカンパニョーロ ゾンダC17に変更しました。重さ的には1.9kgから1.6kgで300グラム強の重量減少ですが、車輪そのものの重量減なので効果は高いようです。
他のライダーのZondaレビューにある通り、漕ぎ出しが軽くなるのが一番わかり易い効果なのですが、最高速がこのホイール交換で40キロに届くようになったので最高速度・巡航速度ともにプラスになっています。
最高速的には35キロちょっとから40キロなので5キロ前後の効果があると思います。
SPDペダルへの変更：+1km/h
Tern Surgeに乗っていたときにSPDペダル（SPD-SLではない）に変えました。といってもSPDシューズが安く売っていたから、というのがきっかけです。SPDにしたのはロングライドの行き先で歩くことを見据えたのと、外れやすそうな気がしたからです。とはいえペダルに足が固定されるというのはそこそこ効果があるようで、少し速度がアップした感じがありました。
けどSPDシューズのクリートの場所がよく言う拇指球下より後ろにずれてるのでペダルを踏む感じはちょっと変な感じでした。フラットペダル＋スニーカーの方が踏めてた感じです。
SPD-SLペダルへの変更：+2km/h
Cannondale CAAD 13に乗り換えてから、たまたまSPD-SL用のシューズが安く売っていたので（また）SPD-SLに変えています。こちらは・・・比較的クリート位置が自由に設定できるため、ちゃんと拇指球あたり、前のSPDペダルのときより前に設定できました。
自分的にも踏めてる感じがするペダル位置の効果は絶大？でグイグイ踏めるようになりました。SPD-SLにしてから嫌いな坂も登れるようになってきた気がします。ダンシングもやりやすいです。
ということで、いくつか速度アップに役立ったと思われるファクターを書き出しました。クロスバイクのときは最高速が25キロくらいだったのが、今や40キロぐらいまで引っ張れるようになりました。
それにつれてライドの平均速度も上がってきていて、ロングライドでも平均速度は25キロを割らないようになってきたのは嬉しいです。100キロライドだと休憩以外のタイムが4時間に大体収まるので早く帰ってこれるのは助かります。
追記―巡航速度について
巡航速度、という言葉はよく聞きますが、厳密な定義があるようです。
このサイトによると、巡航速度≒グロス平均速度、という概念のようですね。つまり休憩から何から含んだ数値、ということです。ということは・・・Stravaでライドで表示される平均速度はネット（走っている間のみ）平均速度なので、なかなか巡航速度は軽々しく言えないなぁ・・・ｗ
